Anne Heche is in a coma after a Los Angeles car accident

Anne Heche is in a coma and in "very grave condition" following a vehicle accident in Los Angeles on Friday.

"Anne is now in very serious condition," a representative for Heche said in a statement released on Monday. "She has severe lung damage necessitating artificial breathing and burns to necessitate surgical surgery. Since immediately after the accident, she has been in a coma and has not recovered consciousness.

Heche has been hospitalized since Friday, when she rammed her automobile into a home in the Los Angeles area of Mar Vista, igniting both the car and the house. Saturday, Heche's publicist issued a statement stating that the Emmy nominee was "in stable health."

According to Deadline, 59 firemen were sent to the site to extinguish the flames sparked by the collision, which left Heche's vehicle completely engulfed in the Mar Vista property she collided with. It took firemen nearly an hour to extinguish the fire and extract Heche from the ruins. Heche was apparently able to talk following her rescue, but lost consciousness shortly afterward.

Minutes before the collision, Heche was seen on a doorbell camera reportedly speeding and driving recklessly, as well as, according to Deadline, being involved in a second small automobile accident a few streets away. Officer Annie Hernandez of the Los Angeles Authorities Department said that police had gotten a warrant to take blood from the actor.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established for Lynne Mishele, whose home was damaged in the accident. As of Tuesday morning, almost $100,000 has already been raised. According to the website, Mishele "narrowly averted bodily injury," but her house was "totally burnt" and she lost "her lifetime's worth of belongings."
